Just Heart
Things without explanation are some times wonderful.
Sips of flamenco. That is how we could define
Flamenco Mi Vida, Peter Sempel´s flamenco
statement.
Minimalism, tempo, constance and rythm. The flamenco
artists know how to sing, dance or play, but do
not know how to speak. In Sempel´s film
they just breathe, show how they are.
It is unbelievable how he shows different atmospheres:
Sevilla, Algeciras, Deli, Tokyo, Cairo, Jerez,
Córdoba… Sempel does not know much
about flamenco, he just knows about lives, people.
At the end of the day, flamencos are just people
who mix art with non intellectual roots. Just
deep. Flamenco Mi Vida is an insight view of a
German who followed with camera something that
nobody can really show. The soul of flamenco.
That’s it.
In Peter Sempel´s film you can perceive
an idea what the flamenco (inside, insight) is
about. A flamenco collage. Do not try to understand.
Just leave your mind, fly to the knives of the
wind.

Bislang fand ich Flamenco eigentlich immer nur
lächerlich. Diese Meinung muß ich nun
ändern. Der Film zeigt und ist selbst hinreißende
Musik.

... finally i received your
films and the beautiful poster and information.
CONGRATULATION. I had seen a different film in
dusseldorf the last year when you had shown me
the first montaje of your film. Now i feel its
very poetic and a good ritmo. i like very much
the horses in all film, it´s the mix of freedom
and slave. similar of the flamenco people. I very
orgulloso of the image "arte de la guerra" including
in the film. it´s a good moment when you show
the way around the world of the flamenco people
mixing with the moment when i dance in the floor.
i think that your film is a good window for foreing
and spanish people to know the vision of different
real flamenco: mind and body. intellectual and
passion, externo-interno. sound-silence. past-future.
CONGRATULATION. thank you again for all. you are
a poet. you poesia is a flamenco collage. many
things and a simple thing.... the emotion ......at
last....

Hey Peter, vielen Dank für den Film. Ich bin sehr, sehr glücklich ihn gesehen zu haben. It really takes you places! Er ist sehr poetisch und wunderschön, wie ein schöner Traum. Ich habe noch nicht viele Filme über Flamenco gesehen, aber ich kann nicht vorstellen, dass man das besser machen kann. Ich bin sehr bewegt. Juan Polvillo der weiße Löwe.... Diego de Moron..... just great.... der Typ in der Garage mit dem schwazen Mercedes.. unforgetable...!!! Die Überblendungen, wie z.b. im Tunnel.... der Schenk on dem kleinem Foto... a yeah!! Maria Serrano.... Penia Esterez Jerez so sweet!! Dolores Arriaza.....
